Intro Part 2 - My Kiddo Hates These 3 Deadly Passions of Mine

Passion can be a dangerous thing to have especially when you have to pay a heavy price it, both mentally and financially.

The 3 passions that I will be talking about below are actually quite common among ladies and possibly some housewives. After an extended displeasure from my hubby (all 3 passions) and especially my kiddo (2 of my passions), I have since toned down the 'unhealthy' intensity I have for these three passions.

The Shopaholic Who Once Owned 50 Pairs of Shoes

Need I say more? Before Cyber Malls became all secured and trendy, I was always hunting out discounts and offers across newspapers and fashion magazines. Most part of the left over salary would always get spent on things that I would only wear once.

Why? Ha, I simply had too many choices and since according to the Pareto's 80-20 rule, 80% of what I usually wear come from 20% of the clothing in the wardrobe. So what happened to the rest of them? I would usually either give them away or donate them away. Truly heart pain and sad moments...

Ok, ok, ok. Let me admit it. Most of them are clothing that I could no longer wear because of my expanded waistline over the years and while it feels good to glance over them once in a while, they have been taking up unnecessary real estate within my wardrobe. :(

The same goes for my big collection of shoes. Since I once own about 50 pairs of them, my hubby had to buy additional shoe cabinets to house them. Sigh...

These days, I have learn to plan out what I want to wear across the entire month and only buy what I need. There is hardly any 'white elephant' clothing inside my wardrobe now. How long can this last? I have no idea. Fingers-crossed.

Who Needs a Drama-holic Mum?

Come on, these days, who is not a big fan of Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese dramas? I used to love them so so much, to the extend of owning many cabinets of them.

During the time when I was so hooked up with them, I had very little time for household chores and cooking. Cooking? What cooking? Are you kidding me, that beautiful and kindhearted lead actress just got kidnapped by 3 Korean gangsters, who has the mood to cook? Delivery please. :D

My poor kiddo and hubby had to eat out most of the weekends or if they ordered deliveries, both of them had to eat without me as I run my worth of "dramathon".  The wake up call came after our beloved TV broke down and my hubby did not want to get a replacement. Although I was able to watch them via laptop, I chose not to as I know I was already too addicted and had to put a cap on this unhealthy passion of mine.

Fast forward 3 years and I am still watching dramas. While I am no longer so hooked up, I am still very much a fan of most dramas from Japan, Korean and Taiwan.

Mobile Game Addict

Ever since the introduction of Play-store games from one of my colleagues a couple of years ago after I switch to an Android phone, I immediately got hooked by the great varieties of games they have.

Even though most of them are free to play, I have spent hundreds on some of the games that require purchase of special items in order to achieve higher levels. Besides financial strain, I used to sleep only about 5 hours and I had to catch up with my sleep over weekends.

As you can imagine, my family life suffered as a result and as fate has it, my poor phone suffered a malware attacks some months ago. As a result, I had to get my hubby to do a factory reset and wiped out all the games inside the phone which were easily worth hundreds of dollars.

Like I mentioned above, these days I have manage to curb my urge for these passions and will only do it once in a while. Months have passed and I am still in control over all the three passions. And of course both my hubby and kiddo couldn't be happier these days. :D

5 Tricky Job Interview Questions You Should Be Aware of

Whenever I go for job interviews, I always make it a point to crawl the web for questions and answers to tough and tricky job interview questions. I started doing this ever since I came across a tough interview question that caught me speechless.

You should also be mentally prepared to answer questions that will truly make you feel both uncomfortable and awkward. These questions are usually used to filter out candidates who aren't a good fit for the job they applied for.

Needless to say, being a 'kiasu' (scare to lose) person by nature, I have collected tons of interview questions and answers through the many years of interviewing people as well as getting interviewed.

I want to share some of the interview questions which I find tricky and tough to answer and I hope they are beneficial to you for your next job interview.

Question One: Why were you not promoted in the last 5 years with your previous company?

These type of questions are usually set to make you reveal your weaknesses and/or any bad records you may have with your ex-company. Some candidates may even bad-mouth their previous supervisor and fell right into the trap laid out by the interviewers.

What I Would Answer:

Due to internal company budget constraints or as a result of unforeseen recession, the company did not have the right budget or enough profit to fund promotions over the last few years. Let them know that promotion is never a good gauge for performance as it is usually based on departmental budgets and HR guidelines etc but being given important job roles and responsibilities are.

Question Two: Are you a Job Hopper?

These type of questions will definitely come about if you have had worked for various companies and the staying duration isn't that long. You may be able to get past such questions if your answer is politically correct.

What I Would Answer:

Due to lack of experience and poor choices, I have been working for companies that offer good pay packages and/or is near to where I lived. After these short term stays with various employers who are not on the same page as me, I have finally realized that finding the right fit is a two way streets. I sincerely believe my current qualification and experiences are the right fit for this position and the company.

Question Three: What are your short and long term salary expectations?

This question is usually being asked to see if salary is the only attracting factor to the job applicant. When I was asked this question for the first time, I didn't know what to say for the long term salary expectation and just shot out a figure which I regretted later on.

What I Would Answer:

Given another chance now, I would have told the interviewers that I am negotiable for a lower short term salary but would appreciate a salary adjustment in the long term if my work performance is on par or beyond the expectation of the company.

Question Four: What is your biggest weakness?

This is actually one of the easier question to answer compared to the aforementioned ones. Most job applicants will tend to realize their 'real' weaknesses such as quarrelsome, poor health, talkative, overslept and so on. Do note that revealing such weaknesses may weake your chance of getting hired.

What I Would Answer:

When asked similar questions, I would usually tell him weaknesses that could also be seen as an added value to the company. For example, I once told one f my previous employers that I am a workaholic and while it is a weakness by itself, that employer was actually impressed and told me that certain projects which have tight dateline may require me to work overtime which was totally fine with me.

Question Five: What makes you want to leave your current job?

This question create the perfect ground for many applicants to talk bad about their current job scopes, boss and company. Whatever you say, never ever badmouth the company you are currently working for.

What I Would Answer:

Be diplomatic in your answer and say that you are actively seeking a company that could provide the right fit and challenges for your qualifications and experiences. Explain how your current skill sets and expertise will make the company grow if they hire you would definitely score points for you.

Tough and tricky job interview questions are set to help filter the bad ones from the good. So long you are prepared for them, you should not have problem getting hired.

If you have any tough or tricky interview questions that you would like to share, please feel free to comment below and I may add it on the list above. Good luck to your forthcoming job interview if you are going for one soon. :D

Weekend Family Cycling at East Coast Park

It has been a while since we last brought our kiddo to East Coast Park for cycling. Despite the thunderstorm warning from various weather forecast websites, hubby and I decided to go ahead with the cycling event which our kiddo has been longing for.

Well, it turned out that we were quite lucky. The weather at East Coast Park was a little cloudy and windy at most when we reached there and it didn't rain until when we were on our way to Bedok Mall for dinner.

Ever since our kiddo 'mastered' his riding of bicycle last December, he has been wanting to ride a bigger bike plus longer distance. Although he was a little uncertain when he first mounted himself onto the bigger rental bike, he did overcome his fear and has managed to balance well throughout the entire two hours ride.

Did you know that these days, they even have first aid kiosks standing by to provide immediate medical aid to those who needs it? Thumbs up for that!!

As we were all super hungry by the time we reached Bedok Mall, we decided to have our dinner first before making our way home. Although I can already foresee both my legs are going to suffer tremendous muscle ache tomorrow morning, it is definitely worth it when I see how happy and contented our kiddo was on our way home. :D
